L2 – Network Security Engineer
VirtualArmour is an international Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) headquartered in Denver, Colorado. We’re looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to strengthen our MSS Team.
The Role:
This is a 2nd line SOC based support role, focused on managing and maintaining customer networks and security. The role acts as an escalation point for tickets involving tasks such as configuring and troubleshooting routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and network access control.
Working closely with our customers to ensure that a high level of service is provided, and value added at every customer engagement. This position will suit an experienced Network Security Engineer or a Network Engineer looking to move into a more security focused role.

The Candidate
We’re looking for a person who already has a very strong background in Network Security.
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with strong problem-solving skills. The ability to work in a pressurized environment with conflicting priorities, ensuring that service level agreements are met is essential to be successful in this role.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a highly technical environment and be able to communicate their findings to non-technical customers.
We are looking for candidates based in Argentina or the Philippines for a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Cover Help Desk tickets for MSS customers, which includes monitoring queues for incidents, problems, and change management requests.
- Focused on managing and maintaining customer networks and security.
- Configuring and troubleshooting routing, switching, firewalls, wireless, and network access control.
- Working closely with our customers to ensure that a high level of service is provided, and value added at every customer engagement.
- Stay current on IT security trends and news.
- Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
- Research security enhancements and make recommendations to management.
- Stay up to date on information technology trends and security standards.
- Monitor customer environments for security/network issues.
- Manage, monitor, and alert customer equipment.
- Train, mentor, and guide teammates through direct comms and by hosting knowledge transfer calls.
Requirements
2+ years experience in enterprise routing and switch or network security.
A solid understanding of core networking and network security principles in the following fields is a must:
- Switching technologies such as STP, VLAN Trunking
- Routing technologies such as HSRP/VRRP, OSPF, EIGRP and BGP
- Network Address Translation
- Site to Site and SSL VPN
- Firewall security policies
Strong experience in at least one of the following vendor equipment:
- Palo Alto
- Cisco Routing and Switching
- Cisco ASA (with FirePower services preferable)
- Juniper SRX, EX, and QFX
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of experience within IT.
- CCNA R&S/Security, JNCIA-ENT/JNCIA-SEC, PCNSA, or other vendor specific qualifications at specialist/professional level.
Additional preferred experience:
- Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
- Fortigate
- Aruba wireless
Salary dependent on experience.
